Absences and Parent Portal
Please help us properly record your child’s absences by following these guidelines:
Remember to send your child back to school with a written note explaining the reason for the absence. The note should be given to your child’s teacher who will forward it to the main office, or you can send it directly to Teresa Osborne, our school secretary. A parent note is sufficient to excuse a child due to illness or injury for one or two consecutive school days; three or more days require a note from the treating physician. Religious holidays, court appearances, and death in the family are also excused when explained by the parent in a written note to school. VACATIONS ARE NOT EXCUSED ABSENCES.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss your child's individual case, please contact our attendance officer, Mr. Schiff, directly at 822-2080 (ext. 300) or jschiff@margateschools.org.
Additionally, please remember to check the Parent Portal at http://www.mygradeportal.com/ using the username and password you received earlier this fall. You can view your child’s records at any time using the portal. If you have any difficulties logging into the site, let us know and we will resolve the problem as soon as possible.
Drop Off/Pick Up Routines
Regular morning drop off and afternoon dismissal is always from the grade of a family’s youngest sibling.
Classroom teachers will always dismiss students to a parent or designated adult. Please inform your child’s teacher if he/she will be a walker.
Parents may stay with their children longer, but unsupervised children must be in the building.

Morning Drop Off (rain or shine)
There will be a staff member at each door at 8:00 AM.
